Dee Dee Bridgewater, the Queen of Jazz, German jazz piano great Paul Kuhn, world-class jazz drummer Al Foster, the Paolo Fresu Devil Quartet, and German singer Céline Rudolph are only some of the artists that will excite all fans of jazz music. Pop and rock lovers, too, should not miss this unique festival, which is now in its 22nd year. 2012 highlights include appearances by Laith Al-Deen, Paul Carrack, and German singers Bosse and Cäthe. ‘It meant a great deal to me and my advisors, Thomas Siffling and Wolfgang Schall, to bring out the typical characteristics of the five stages, and I think we have been fairly successful in providing good music for younger and older audiences alike’, said David Maier, the festival’s artistic director.
The full programme, including audio samples, is available at

A Vibrant Fringe Programme
In 2012, ‘Worms: Jazz & Joy’ will again be more than a listening pleasure. The region’s best chefs and winemakers are inviting visitors to succumb to their culinary temptations. The city’s historic charms create the backdrop to a large variety of choice foods and exquisite wines from the region. Nostalgics will be in raptures about the vintage car show on Saturday, and young visitors can join in one of the activities at the children’s party at the foot of the majestic Cathedral. The churches in the city are even putting on special jazz services on Sunday.
Dick Brave & The Backbeats Special Concert
While Dee Dee Bridgewater will kick off the festival on Weckerlingplatz on Friday evening, Dick Brave & The Backbeats will rock the chandeliers at the special concert on Platz der Partnerschaft. People are sure to cut a rug wherever the rockabilly outfit appear, evoking the spirit of the fifties and sixties with handcrafted rock ’n’ roll. Visitors will glory in songs by Little Richard, Elvis Presley, or Carole King and Gerry Goffin, and appreciate maverick rockabilly revamps of hits by Depeche Mode, Green Day or Pink. Dick Brave & The Backbeats revel in the sound of the early beat years, always quiffed to a T and dressed in cool clothes. ‘I am sure this kind of music will strike a chord with both young and old audiences. Some have grown up with rock ’n’ roll, others have been acquainted with it by Dick Brave & The Backbeats,’ said David Maier, the artistic director of ‘Worms: Jazz & Joy’. The special concert is presented by EWR AG.
