The Nibelungen-Festspiele 2010 (cultural programme)

Almost everything about the Nibelungen-Festspiele will be new in 2010. From 16 July to 1 August, the drama festival will present a new play featuring a new cast of outstanding actors.

This year the Nibelungen-Festspiele drama festival will be shaped by the official Hohenstaufen Year 2010. German star director Dieter Wedel will stage ‘Devil, God and Emperor’, a theatre spectacular on Frederick II, the legendary emperor of the Hohenstaufen dynasty. Six unique and unrepeatable plays will be put on stage on six successive days. And what’s most exceptional about it: the 400 spectators can actively determine the course of events in the story. There will be numerous forms of expression, readings, theatrical performances, songs, dancing, and controversal discussions.

Ticket sale starts in spring.

And what’s on in the future? In 2011, the Nibelungen-Festspiele will take place in the then newly opened municipal theatre, and in 2012 in front of the impressive silhouette of the venerable St Peter’s Cathedral.
